George and Barbara Rourke have been members of St. Mary of the Woods since 1968.  Their five children attended St. Mary’s school and received all of their sacraments at the parish. Both George and Barbara have been heavily involved in the parish over the years on various committees and organizations.  Barbara was past President of The Altar and Rosary Society and George served as President of the Holy Name Society.  George and Barbara have devoted their substantial volunteer participation over the years almost exclusively to St. Mary of the Woods.

George has been in real estate for forty years.  With this significant expertise, he believes the parish renovations proposed in Vision 2010 will positively impact the surrounding residential neighborhood.  “All of the projects that the parish has undertaken have been necessary steps to insure that the facilities are kept up-to-date for all members of our faith community.  Improvements are necessary to keep our parish facilities in top condition.”

George observes that Vision 2010 will benefit all members of St. Mary of the Woods Faith Community by offering expanded gathering space for approximately seventy parish committees and groups.  It will provide handicapped accessibility, improved facilities for the school, and increased safety and security for all parishioners.

As a real estate professional, George looks at the proposed Master Plan as a home improvement loan that will benefit the community at large.  He feels that the parish has been and will remain an anchor of the community.
