4th Grade Lunch Rules & Instructions - 8/10

Recess is from 11:25 - 11:40 and the students eat from 11:45 - 12:00.  Lunch parents need to be at the classroom door by 11:25 to escort the students to recess.

Classroom Rules for Students:

1.   Students must come in from recess quietly and get their lunches.  Students must wash their hands and desk before eating lunch then be ready to pray.  A student will lead the class in prayer.

2.   Students must keep their hands and feet to themselves, and remain in their seat throughout the lunch period.

3.   Students must clean-up their lunch, wipe down their desk with a wipe, pick-up lunch litter on the floor, and put their lunch bag in their backpack.

4.   Students must have their desk cleared and be prepared for class when the bell rings at 12:00!

5.   Students must treat each other and the lunch parents with respect, and follow ALL classroom rules throughout the lunch period.

Instructions to Lunch Parents:

1.   Discipline - please be firm with the students.  Miss Borg uses the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 method for students to quiet down and Miss Dobrowski has a bell on her podium to ring to quiet students.  Turning the lights off and on also works well.  Students should stay in their seats as much as possible!  On the playground you can give a student a three-minute time-out at the flagpole, if needed.  Please let the teachers know of any discipline issues so they can handle the situation.

2.   At the end of recess a the bell is rung for students to line-up and enter the building in an orderly manner.  The assigned-students will re-position the sawhorses for the lower grades.

3.   Students will wash their hands, get their lunches and sit down so the assigned-student can lead the class in prayer.

4.   The assigned-milk-student will pick-up the milk from the milk room.  For health code guidelines, immediately distribute the milk and return the extra milk to the milk room.   (School administration immediately places the milk into the refrigerator.)

5.   After eating lunch students are asked to wipe their desk with the wipes supplied.  While the students are eating the lunch parent can distribute a wipe to each student.  Students must also clean-up the floor around their desk of any lunch litter.

6.   The lunch parent makes sure the classroom is properly cleaned-up and reminds the assigned-student to empty the garbage.  The parent will give the students a 5-minute and 2-minute warning so students are prepared for class to begin when the bell rings at 12:00!  This is very important on days when students have specials immediately following lunch.

7.   The balls and jump-ropes are given out each day by the teacher.  No outside toys are to be brought in for recess.

8.   Hot Lunch Days - 4th grade goes to recess and then eats lunch.

9.   On rainy days/indoor recess - there are games and activities in the classroom for the students to play after lunches are cleaned-up.  Remind the students to take their time eating since they will be staying in the classroom.

10.  On very hot weather days the students may take off their vests for recess, but the vests must be taken off before they go outside and neatly placed on their desk.

11.  Lunch parents are responsible for finding their own subs.
